The truth is most of us don’t do it correctly and cause more damage to our walls behind the pictures than we
want to admit. Here are some tips to help you determine where to hang your frames or artwork and the best methods.

Best height for hanging pictures:

The most common mistake made when deciding where on a wall a picture or artwork should be hung is the height. Generally we hang them too high instead of at eye level. How can
you determine where eye level is? Simply measure 60” - 65” up from the floor to determine where the center of the frame should be. This is the method employed in most art galleries. Dining rooms may require a lower height due to the fact most people will be seated when in the room.

How big is too big?

It’s all about proportion, a few small pictures in a large room will look weak. Big rooms need to make a
huge statement. Grouping a number of smaller pictures together is one way of balancing out a room without having to hang a single large picture. The secret to hanging these picture groups is the use of an adjustable picture hanger which allows you to hang multiple pictures together in just minutes and adjust the spacing of each frame without having to re-nail the hook. (link to a short video of the adjustable picture hanger in action) GENIUS!! :)

A good rule of thumb is; pictures should
be less than the furniture they’re mounted over. You never want a picture to be larger/longer than a couch.
For height, the general rule of thumb
is: All artwork and wall hangings should be somewhere between 4” - 8” above the back of the sofa/table.

Hanging the pictures and artwork:

Never use a nail without a
picture hanger attached to it. Without the hook, the nail may simply slide out of the wall...Usually when you have guests over!
The
best picture hanging hook is one that adjusts. The most adjustable and easiest to use is the Picture Perfect Hanger®. This adjustable hanger enables the user to adjust the picture frame Left, Right, Up & Down a full 2-inches with the single touch of a finger. No tools are required and you don’t have to worry if the hanger’s in the perfect position. This is the easiest picture hook available and a designer's secret. Now you see how they get all those pictures to line up with exact spacing.
So that’s it...
The actual hanging of pictures is now up to you.
