Hanging multiple picture groupings

Lets face it not every wall is square or rectangular. If you’re faced with a wall, split by a couple of windows or a diagonal ceiling line, hanging pictures in a grouping such as this is easy when using an adjustable picture hanger. In the picture shown above notice how the homeowner hung 33 separate pieces of art utilizing several different shapes and sizes to achieve a cohesive look. Tying all of these pictures together is the artwork at the top which is free flowing, reaching the peak as well as the edges of the window.

angle wall with window

This bedroom wall not only has a window to work around but also a sharply angled ceiling. The key to this picture grouping is the use of panoramic photo’s. The pictures hung here are old school images of sport teams and landscape. You can achieve a similar look using your smart phone to take panoramic pictures of family vacations, children’s sport teams even your own landscaping. Notice how an occasional smaller picture is hung to the side to fill in the unusual triangular space on the left side of some frames. It’s also important to note the 2 pictures at the top. They are not in matching frames or matching size but look very balanced.

At first glance this picture wall looks intimidating. Over 50 pictures, shadow boxes, unusual items and artwork have all been hung in the same space and yet they appear organized and well paired to whatever is next to them. While their placement seems random each frame has the appropriate amount of space surrounding it - note the wall to the right. The shadow boxes all have the same spacing. Using adjustable picture hangers will save you time and prevent unnecessary wall damage by not having to remount and nail a picture hanger that’s too high or low.
